  • Question Union Screen Actor's Guild - Shelby Young

hi can anyone answer this question:

What does it mean when a show (L.T) goes under union?
i still dont understand how that led to the unexpected firing of shelby young... does that have any relevance to the second question?

    thanks

    Re: two quick questions

well, I'm no expert, but AFAIK, Shelby Young was in the SAG, while everybody that works on LazyTown is not
that kind of goes against what unions are far, so she wasn't allowed to do the show or something like that, luckily Julianna was not in the SAG

The first rule of the Screen Actors' Guild is - No member shall work as a performer or make an agreement to work as a performer for any producer who has not executed a basic minimum agreement with the Guild which is in full force and effect.

LazyTown, for some reason, decided not to work with the SAG.
Shelby Young is a member of the SAG, and therefore couldn't work with them anymore.

Also, SAG actors are not allowed to work alongside non-SAG actors.
I assume they hired Shelby with the intention to sign everyone else up, but decided it'd be easier not to.

Fortunately Jellyanna saw the light and didn't fall for that shit.

Actually SAG actors can work with non-SAG actors but only in low budget films, or something like that.
I have to admit, it is a subject about which I know very little and care even less.
