If MIDI is so good, why isn't there a MIDI 2?

After over 3 decades, MIDI has finally gotten a successor.

Main important features: Up to 256 channels supported and 32 bit resolution for values.

Should arrive soon this year.

Too many channels. I wonder if it's compatible with normal midi when you play or import that in software built to use original midi.

Wow! It's amazing. I used to have some Midi ringtones but until now I am creating music like Midi sytle.
