Glitchtastic, I'm the one who actually sent this link to you.
And I honestly have no idea. Does this mean that all claimed DHX videos get un-claimed?
"That's what I said. It's mine!"
What if we all pitch in, and buy DHX together?
"That's what I said. It's mine!"
This would only be good if a "good" company bought it, but I doubt that would have any chance of happening.
yey no more copyright claims
Uh oh...
This could be bad. DHX Media may claim videos, sure, but that's it.
They seem happy to have literal entire episodes of the show available publicly and freely on YouTube, as long as they receive the ad revenue. (Which is, of course, more than fair!) What if DHX Media gets bought out by a company which is more protective of their properties? What if they start striking instead of claiming? All the LazyTown videos, taken down! This could end the LazyTown YouTube community.
...Either that or business will continue as usual, which is honestly probably more likely. DHX Media doesn't just own LazyTown, it owns a variety of properties. Seeing as no new official LazyTown content has been produced for years, the show is probably not at the top of the priorities list, so I doubt they're overly concerned.
I agree with everything stated here. However, since there are entire episodes of LazyTown posted on YouTube, that may agitate the company just a little bit. However, despite me knowing nothing about copyright law, I'm pretty sure they won't claim videos posted BEFORE the purchase, just after. Don't quote me on that, though.
eek oh my omg zomg oh dear hA
I wouldn't worry about it too much right now. A lot of possibilities exist, probably most of them resulting in very little change from what we have now, but none of them will come to fruition anytime soon.
Like Toy Soliders
I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere on this thread, but DHX is still looking for alternatives. They have an internal team looking for such alternatives as mergers. This transaction is not certain, and DHX would rather not have their company sold altogether. At least, that's what I saw in the article, and that's how I'm interpreting it. I may be wrong.

Yeah, but Viacom couldn't get a lot of profit besides views on videos since LazyTown as a franchise is yeah XP
Actually... yeah they totally might want a piece of that
And plus, Viacom already owned LazyTown, that's how the TV Series started!
Oh no...

I wish Nickelodeon buys LazyTown because I wish Nick Jr aired Seasons 3 and 4.
You’re a kid now, you’re a squid now!
WOOMY NGYES
As pointed out by Glitch, DHX has apparently been bought by "Wildbrain"(?). Not sure what any of it means, but I hope it's not bad...
User:Rift has been banned from Getlazy.net.
DHX hasn't been bought by Wildbrain. DHX bought Wildbrain back in 2010. But for some reason all the DHX Media copyrights on YouTube are now shown as Wildbrain.
Yeah I don't think this change means that would happen as DHX copyrights has changed on non lazytown videos too.
