Educational session against bullying in sports and leisure activities

Yesterday, an educational evening was held on the prevention of bullying in sports and leisure activities. Between 80-90 people attended the meeting. In the case of the first speakers, it became clear that this is a social disaster. The first speakers approached the subject in interesting but different ways.

The first speakers were Guðjón Ólafsson, special education specialist, Stefán Karl Stefánsson, actor, Sæmundur Hafsteinsson, psychologist, and Vanda Sigurgeirsdóttir, trainer, teacher and free time researcher.

The problem was discussed from many angles, from explaining what bullying is, its consequences and actions against it. It was discussed how the non-governmental organizations of sports and leisure can create their own foundation against bullying. The most important thing was, and it was expressed in the speech of all the first speakers, that the cooperation of all parties from home, school, sports club or leisure club and social centers is important in order to create a rally against bullying.

Stefán Karl Stefánsson encouraged as many people as possible to contribute to the newly founded organization "Rainbow Children" by registering in the organization. Group work took place after the keynote speaker's presentations, and the groups came up with various suggestions on how to prevent bullying in sports and leisure activities. Reporter and journalist Rósa Guðbjartsdóttir was the moderator and she managed the meeting with great authority.
