  • Re: Airship and more

It might have but those games don't excite me all that much. I'd rather play Sportacus in some epic RPG where he goes up against snape.

From what I remember they claimed there were going to be games for both the DS and Wii, but obviously since we haven't heard anything more we can't assume anything.

I don't/can't want/afford a Wii anyway, so I hope it's definitely on the DS. If it's going to happen.

If a game is made, I'd love it to come out on the DS, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Wii got exclusivity as the console requires you to be so active.
Also, like you said, there not the cheapest of things! In this recession I could probably only afford a remote!

Finally starting getting back to my 3d work after the new computer upgrade. The first thing I did was rework the airship rib cage again I just didn't like it and it was a good way for me to get acquainted with 3ds max 2010.

            New structure

            Old Structure

Don't see much of a difference off hand on a quick look but if you look at the cage intersections they are much more smoother and almost look like a single constructed cage. What is not obvious is what's behind the hull.

            New structure

            Old Structure

As you can see the new structure is a vast improvement and more professional looking metal girders. I used splines this time for the horizontal lattice work which I can tweak until my heats content while maintaining a smooth shape. Here's a little sample on the power of splines. Wish I had used them from the beginning but it's never too late. I'll be using the splines to make a much more precise reproduction on the gondola as well.

I mainly used that tutorial to get me started on what the options were for splines.

I've got more updates now. With some new advanced skills I've learned I'm redesigning the airship from top to bottom to make it as fairly accurate as I can here are some shots of the new side trim. If you scroll up a few posts you can compare them with the old trim working I had. Light years better imo

                        Thanks. :)

Finished getting the other white trim done needs a bit more tweaking here and there but it's looking pretty accurate to the real airship. Next step is reconstructing the wings and tail sections.

Took me a while to redo the tail section since I had to make it by hand none of the above techniques worked. Shaping and smoothing and I added the improved sportacus logo (the textures didn't export since I created that in a separate max instance so I need to redo those too) and the base for the rear wings.

The tail section is vast improvement over my old tail mesh imo looks more accurate to the balloonish shape of the authentic airship

                          EDIT

Oh never mind the textures were easily fixed this time for the sportacus logo
